The Historical Evolution of Zhengjue Temple in Dunhua

After 1949, part of Zhengjue Temple was changed into a school, and many monks were strongly advised to return to the secular world. Buddhist monks and others left Zhengjue Temple for prajna temple in Changchun. A few years later, he went to Longchang Temple in Baohuashan, Nanjing to be ordained. After being ordained, he went to Xinyi Temple in Yunjushan, Jiangxi Province, where he was accepted as a disciple by monk Xu Yun. 1980, at the invitation of Zhao Puchu, president of the Chinese Buddhist Association, the Buddhist master who was then abbot of Zhengjue Temple in new york returned to China to worship four famous Buddhist mountains and visit relatives in Dunhua City, Jilin Province, so he solemnly proposed to Zhao Puchu and the government authorities to go back to his hometown to rebuild Zhengjue Temple. Through our own efforts and the assistance of relevant departments, we finally broke ground in1September 1992, and the Shanmen and Daxiong Hall were completed in1September 1994. The first phase of 1995 10 was basically completed.

1994 When the Ursa Major Hall was completed, a grand opening ceremony was held. Zhao Puchu wrote couplets for the main hall and entrusted Master Huan, vice chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Chinese Buddhist Association, to congratulate him. Inscriptions were also sent by the abbot of Longhua Temple in Shanghai, the abbot of Jade Buddha Temple in Shanghai, Master Jueguang, President of the Hong Kong Buddhist Federation, and Mr. Huang, Vice President. Master Jing Hui, abbot of Bailin Temple in Hebei Province, and Master Cheng Gang, abbot of prajna temple in Changchun visited the opening ceremony. Xuanhua people in Wanfo City, USA donated tens of thousands of yuan to support the construction of Zhengjue Temple. Famous scholars, Vice President Peking University and Mr. Ji Xianlin made a comprehensive demonstration of Zhengjue Temple from the perspective of traditional culture, and wrote Chinese plaques and Sanskrit plaques respectively. Professor Peking University Bai provided 32 and 53 images for Kannonji. Luo Jizu, an archaeologist, Duan Chenggui, Cong Wenjun and Zhang Xiaotian, a famous writer, wrote couplets. The construction of Zhengjue Temple has been supported by so many great virtues at home and abroad, all of which are felt by the great virtues of Buddhist masters.
