Although Meili Snow Mountain is lower than Mount Everest, its slope is much steeper than Mount Everest. From Lancang River to kawakarpo, the terrain rises nearly 400 meters at an average interval of 1 km, forming a nearly vertical slope. Moreover, there are many ice-breaking glaciers, ice explosion areas and ice cracks on the mountain, which not only increases the difficulty of climbing, but also is full of dangers, and climbers may be buried in the snow-capped mountains at any time.
Third, Meili Snow Mountain has a unique climate.
Meili Snow Mountain is the watershed between Nujiang River and Lancang River, with high terrain in the north and low terrain in the south. The valleys in the two river basins are all open to the south, and the warm and humid airflow in the Bay of Bengal can drive directly into the valleys. The strong cold air on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau also goes south from time to time, where a tug-of-war is launched, forming a mysterious and rapidly changing climate. It was sunny just now, and in a blink of an eye, there will be strong winds, snow cover and ice cliffs collapse. At the same time, because Meili Snow Mountain is located at low latitude, the snow has poor solidification and may collapse at any time. Meteorological records show that hundreds of avalanches occur every day in Erbo, Cavaca. 1990 the sino-Japanese joint mountaineering team was also caused by an avalanche accident.
