Mary Oliver "Snake"

Mary Oliver is a contemporary American Midwestern female poet. The Midwest of the United States has nurtured generations of poets with its unique geographical environment and climatic conditions. It has a vast territory, abundant agricultural products, self-sufficiency and loneliness. The poets who were born and raised here immersed themselves in this sense of pride and inferiority for their homeland, and wrote many excellent poems with a sense of self-sufficiency and resistance to urban civilization. In the eyes of poets from the American Midwest, American cities are filthy, and urban thoughts and life constrain people's thoughts and vitality. Only in the wilderness can people become healthy, strong, and free in spirit, mind, and body. The poem "Snake" is the inheritance and expression of this idea.
