What books are suitable for children aged 4-6?

As a mother who has organized dozens of children's reading clubs, she will carefully select books for her children to read after determining the theme of each reading club. If the theme is "Mom", then I will choose three books related to this theme, such as My Mom, Little Tadpole Looking for Mom, and Guess how much I love you. After so many sessions of reading practice, I will find that some books have a deep resonance with me when I read them. They are sometimes nervous, sometimes relaxed, sometimes confused, and sometimes laugh with the story. Sometimes the same sentence will appear repeatedly in the book, and the child will definitely tell me. This feeling that we can't help reading together makes us intoxicated in the ocean of stories.

Because I often choose books for my children to read at home or organize children's reading clubs, many parents will ask me to recommend books. Most children under the age of four mainly use picture books. After the age of four, the books that children need are obviously different from before. They are curious about the world. They need a slightly more complicated story. They want to see strange things happen. They want to connect with the characters in the book. Therefore, choosing books for children over four years old needs to take into account the actual needs of children of this age.

Many parents think that four years old should be the cognitive age and buy many popular science books for their children. This is not impossible, but it is necessary to buy moderately and intersperse various types of books. As parents, we should let our children feel the beauty of the world, let them fall in love with reading first, and then guide them to explore the mysteries in the book. The following ten books are the summary of my years of practice, and I believe my children will fall in love with them.

When writing this recommendation, I first asked my 9-year-old daughter what books she liked when she was over four years old. I thought she would choose funny books such as frogs and toads, but I didn't expect to recommend one of the first people I found unpopular-people. This book should be called a picture book. Peter Speer, the author, shows many characteristics of human beings through painting, which truly reflects what the Greek poet Minand said at the beginning of this book-in many cases, it is not enough to "know yourself". More practically, we should "know others".

If this book is classified, it can also be classified as popular science. The characteristics of human beings are vividly expressed in the form of painting. The biggest reason why my daughter recommended this book is that it clearly shows the description of the text with various images. For example, at the beginning of this book, it is written that people have different skin colors, and even eyes have various shapes and colors. In just two sentences, the author has spent a whole page drawing people of all colors, eyes of all shapes and colors, and the author will never miss any one. The author uses words to guide, and then lets the children look at the images to find out the difference for themselves. So the whole book really lists human differences in the form of pictures and finds them through children's eyes.

When parents take their children to read this book, in fact, the most important thing to pay attention to is to remember to wait, rather than let their children read one or two representative books. I remember that every time I finish reading this book, my daughter will turn it over by herself and look at some pictures she cares about carefully.

Another major feature of this book is that the content is well classified and it summarizes the characteristics of people in all aspects. It will make children pay attention to the differences between people, such as hair, hairstyle, clothes, hobbies, ways of playing games, festivals, tastes, religions, languages and personalities. Through these differences, the author skillfully guides children to respect differences, and at the same time makes them understand that some things are needed by human beings, such as enjoying the same sunshine.

Winnie the Witch Series

Children all over the world like a set of books, and Winnie the Witch is also a must-read for every four-year-old children's book club. The children are full of curiosity about the magic witch and her cat. Their repeated adventures or encounters can make every child nervous and finally laugh at their smooth solution.

The author describes Winnie as an exceptionally slender witch with messy hair, black lips and red nose showing the characteristics of a witch. The cat's name is Wilbur, and her whole body is covered with messy hair. She knew at a glance that it was a witch's pet. The hat Winnie often wears, the castle where she lives and the wand in her hand all show that she is a magical witch, but when children read this picture book, they will find that witches are stupid, but cats are not very clever. They often lose their wands and do stupid things. In Winnie the Witch, the first book of this book, Winnie turned Wilbur into a red head.

Why do children like this book? Because every child wants to be Winnie, the protagonist of this book. They want to ride brooms and have wands in their hands. Just say the spell: the spell, and magical things will happen, although sometimes the spell will fail.

When parents and children read this set of books together, they must immerse themselves in the role, let the children imagine themselves as the lovely witch Winnie, and let the children shout out when they say the spell to see what will happen!

3 "Little Tadpole Looking for Mom"

Children will never get tired of reading China's traditional stories. For our parents, I will always remember the classic ink cartoon "Little Tadpole Looking for Mom" I watched when I was a child, so when I chose this story picture book, I specially found the ink version, written by Lu Bing, a famous children's writer in China, who converted the language of the cartoon "Little Tadpole Looking for Mom" into the language of the picture book.

In the book "The World of Picture Books-Introduction and Introductory Lecture" by Morihisa Health Taro, we talked about the rhythm of picture books and how to arrange pictures. Taking a certain rhythm as one of the unfolding ways of picture books is one of them. This type of picture book is repeated by the arrangement of two beats, three beats and four beats, which makes people interested in reading one after another, and expects the next scene, looking forward to turning pages and gradually approaching the climax of the story. This version of Lu Bing's Little Tadpole Looking for Mom is like this. Every time he meets a new animal, the tadpole will come around and shout, Mom, Mom, Good Mom. Whether reading to children in a book club or reading alone at home, with the development of the plot, children will shout it out with me.

This book is also suitable for adaptation into a small play for children to perform, and it is more suitable for children to draw their own mind maps and tell this interesting story vividly to others.

4 "magic school bus"

A set of books that are super suitable for science and engineering fathers. The professional knowledge inside makes me a little timid as a liberal arts mother. When my child talked about this book when she was over four years old, I was really worried that she wouldn't listen, especially when it involved some mechanical knowledge. Some are obscure, afraid that children will close the book because they don't understand. But this has never happened once, and when I communicate with many parents, they will feedback that their children like this book very much, and parents are thirsty every time!

The magic school bus was published by SCHOLASTIC. The first series is plates, and the second series is Hashimoto. 4-year-olds still have to watch the picture version. The book draws on popular science knowledge in detail and will not miss any details. Our parents will also learn a lot from this book.

At the beginning of each book in this set, there will be a curly teacher. She will let the children preview, search for information, and then learn knowledge. In class, they will understand knowledge through many practical operations, images and models. The most interesting thing is that she will lead the children to explore in a yellow school bus. For example, when roaming the world of electricity, they will pass by stoves, metal water pipes, steam turbines, generators and wires. Every time it passes, the book will draw the operating principle, and children will begin to imagine how they work. Therefore, when reading this set of books to children, we should be as careful as possible, and mention a lot of tips and small schematic diagrams, so that children can unconsciously form a scientific view when reading this book.

5 "Fun science games that fascinate children"

The biggest difference between this book and other science games is that it is easy to operate at home. After getting this book, what parents should do most is to quickly record the materials that need to be prepared according to the tips in the book, and then place an order online to complete the material preparation.

Children over the age of four have many ideas and are looking forward to completing some experiments, but their ability is not enough, so parents can first find some simple science games in books to play with their children, and then slowly do some more difficult ones. Of course, at the beginning, parents can help more, and when children can operate independently, they can reduce the help.

No matter what experiment is in the book, children like doing it very much. When their experimental results are the same as those in the book, it is estimated that the children will jump for joy. For example, in the first experiment in the book, I asked my daughter to imagine that she was a witch and was making a magical potion. I poured white vinegar into the glass bottle, added a few drops of pigment and sprinkled some sequined pieces of paper. Add more detergent, stir slowly with a spoon and mix the materials together. Then put a spoonful of baking soda into the glass bottle, and my daughter and I will find that the glass bottle really began to bubble as written in the book, and we shouted happily! There is also the experiment of "Private Detective in Action". I deliberately left a fingerprint on the mirror, let my father hold the glass hard, and then let my daughter play the role of a private detective and collect fingerprints according to the book. Finally, my daughter really made the same fingerprint collection board as the book. We also found that everyone's fingerprints are really different through the fingerprint collection board.

6? Gourmet in nature

This set of books is one of the most worth reading for children in recent years. Even adults can learn a lot about food by opening this set of books, and they are not aggressive and have a desire to read.

In order to let my daughter read this set of books better, my children and I not only read it from beginning to end, but the most important thing is to combine each book with extra operations. (Please refer to my book review "Taking Children to Understand the Spirit of Food Education in Japan") "Where did rice come from?" My daughter drew a picture in chronological order with a brush, combed the context of the book and better understood how rice came from. In The Great Transformation of Milk, my daughter drew the process of making food with milk by mind mapping. "Favorite Chocolate", my daughter and I also made chocolate at home according to the production steps in the book and decorated it with peanuts. "Honey is Ready", I scanned and reprinted the pictures in this book, and asked my daughter to sort out these pictures in combination with the book, summarizing each picture in one sentence, which deepened the understanding of the process of honey collection by bees and beekeepers. "Soybean! Transformation! " My daughter is still using mind map to draw the making process of each food with key words, and also drew a small mind map to mark the foods mentioned in the book, such as soybean milk, soy sauce, yuba, bean curd residue, oil tofu, frozen tofu and oil tofu box.

It may be difficult for children over four years old to do the above operations, so parents need to use their imagination and think about what kind of way is more suitable for children to deepen their understanding of books, and I believe that children are particularly willing to practice.

7 Frogs and Toads

There is a difference between Frogs and Toads and the books recommended earlier, that is, this set of books is a bridge book with more words than pictures, which is suitable for parents and children who are almost 6 years old.

When children listen to these stories, they will think of interesting things that happened between them and their good friends. Because the story in the book is also the most common scene and dribs and drabs in life, it is easy for children to sing it. No matter how old children are, as long as they think of the scenes in the book, they want to laugh. This is the charm of this set of books.

Because this set of books is a bridge book, it is for children in English-speaking countries to practice reading, and English vocabulary is especially suitable for children to learn. Even after my daughter learned the Chinese meaning of this set of books, listening to English audio was almost effortless. So as long as we make full use of this set of bridge books, although the story is silly, it is very effective.

This set of books is also a set of books with the most obvious effect of enhancing parent-child relationship, and it is a masterpiece that every parent should read to their children. Comparing children's feelings when reading this book after school, we will find that happiness is far less than that of parents and children, so read this set of books for children!

The demand for books for children aged four to six has increased significantly. I hope parents can read better with their own understanding. Don't regret not enjoying the wonderful time when their children can read books by themselves after school!
