Webster (? ~ 7 10), jingzhao wannian (now Chang' an, Shaanxi). In the first year of Hongdao (683), Zhongzong ascended the throne, and the next year he became the queen. In the same year, Zhongzong was deposed by Wu Zetian and moved to Zhoufang (now Fangxian County, Hubei Province), accompanied by Webster. In the first year of Shenlong (705), Zhongzong was restored. Every time he comes to North Korea, Wei Hou will sit in a temple with curtains and learn about political affairs in advance. Zhongzong appointed Zhao Rong (a female official in the palace), who was in charge of the documents for Wu Zetian, to preside over the writing of the imperial edict, with Wu Sansi as the prime minister. At that time, North Korea formed a Wu-Wei dictatorship group headed by Wei. Wu Sansi framed and persecuted Zhang Jianzhi, Jing Hui and other heroes who supported the restoration of Zhongzong through Wei Hou and his beloved daughter Princess Anle. Zhongzong executed those who exposed the scandals of Wu and Wei, so Wu Sansi seized power and ruled others. Li Zhongjun, the prince of Zhongzong, was not born by Webster and was hated by Hou Wei. Princess Anle and her husband Wu Chongxun (Wu Sansi) often insult Chongjun. In July of the third year of Shenlong, Chongjun launched some feather troops to kill Wu Sansi and Wu Chongxun and murdered Wei Ruyun and Princess Anle. Because the following feather army mutinied, the coup failed and Junjun was killed. The power of Wu Wei Group remains undiminished. At this time, floods and droughts occurred in the mainland, registered permanent residence fled, and people suffered. However, Zhongzong indulged in Wei Hou's debauchery, ignored state affairs and executed those who reported the chaotic government in Wei Hou. It is said that in the fourth year of Jinglong (7 10), Wei Shi was afraid that his scandal would be exposed. Princess Anle wanted Wei Shi to come to the court and be the wife of the emperor, so she plotted to poison Zhongzong. Wei Hou was the regent of this dynasty, and made Li Zhongmao the emperor, known as Shaodi in history. Wei's children were appointed to command the official armies in the north and south, and they wanted to emulate Wu Zetian's usurpation. King Linzi (later Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty) and Princess Taiping (the daughter of Empress Wu Zetian) launched an imperial army to attack Miyagi, killing Queen Wei, Princess Anle, Shangguan Waner and all Wei's children, forcing the young emperor to step aside and let Li Dan (his father) be the king of the emperor. The rebellion in Wei Hou is finally over.
detailed inspection
On May 23rd, the year of Heishengyuan (AD 684), several wagons were driving slowly on the country road from Zhou Jun (now Xunxian County, Hubei Province) to Fangling (now Fangxian County, Hubei Province). A young man sitting in the first carriage, gloomy and glassy-eyed, seemed to have a heavy heart and infinite grief. This is Tang Zhongzong Li Xian. After Wu Zetian proclaimed himself emperor, Li Xian was abolished as the king of Luling and put in an abandoned courtyard in the palace. Later, he was exiled to the far south. At this time, Li Xian was in exile. He looked at the green Yuan Ye and deeply felt that the vibrant earth was so incongruous with his mood. His wife Webster's car is behind him. Thinking of his wife, Li Xian couldn't help looking back. Wei was accepted as a princess when Zhongzong was a prince, and was made a queen in Shengyuan, and Zhongzong was abolished. She was also demoted and went to Fangling with her entourage. Webster just gave birth to a girl, and she is still very weak. The constant jolting of the car during the journey increased her pain. Because they gave birth to a baby on the road and had no time to prepare, Li Xian and Webster had to wrap the girl in their own clothes, so they named the baby "Bao". Unlike parents who can't sleep because of pain, Bao Er is often in a deep sleep state. There are several cars behind Webster's house, carrying their adult children, slaves and some things. Li Xian and Webster settled down after they arrived at Fangling. During their stay in Fangling, Wu Zetian sent envoys to visit them many times.
Whenever he heard the news of the special envoy's arrival, Li Xian was always nervous, fidgeting and even wanted to commit suicide. On the contrary, Webster is more open-minded. She advised Li Xian, "Happiness depends on misfortune, and misfortune always changes. Why do you want to die? You don't have to be so scared. " In this way, Li Xian and Webster lived together and spent more than ten years of hard life in Fangling, and the feelings between husband and wife became deeper. Whenever night comes and the sky is full of stars, Li Xian will look at the starry sky and return to the life of the prince in the palace in the past 100 million years. He assured Webster that once she returned to the throne, she would be happy in every way. Because Di Renjie, an old minister in the DPRK, often advised Wu Zetian to think more about the love between mother and child, Ji Xiang, Li Zhaode and other ministers also talked about relocating Li Xian, who was in her seventies, and because Wu Zetian was sickly, she always thought about Li Xian, who was far away from home. Therefore, in the first year of the holy calendar (AD 698), Li Xian was welcomed back to the palace, and Webster also came back. When Li Xiangang returned to the palace, he kept it a secret. He was hidden in a big tent by Wu Zetian.
One day, Wu Zetian summoned Emperor Renjie and talked about Li Xian, king of Luling. Di Renjie made a big speech, and she was in tears and very excited. Wu Zetian sent someone to call Li Xian out of the account, pushed him to the emperor, and said, "I'll give you back Chu Jun." When the emperor saw it, he hurried back to the stage and saluted while crying. After a while, Emperor Renjie said to Wu Zetian: "When the prince returns to the palace, everyone doesn't know, and it is inevitable that someone will talk about it." Wu Zetian thought that Di Renjie had a point, so she publicly welcomed Li Xian into the palace from Longmen with grand etiquette. In this regard, the civil and military officials are very happy. In the first year of Shenlong (AD 705), on the second day of the first month, Zhang Jianzhi, assistant minister of Fengge, Cui Xuanwei, assistant minister of Luantai, and General Zuo Yulin (1) paid tribute. General Huan, the right Yulin, was sentenced to Yuan, and took advantage of the situation to launch a palace coup, killing Wu Zetian's cronies and brothers and welcoming the Crown Prince to inspect the country. Seeing the tide ebbing, Wu Ze surrendered to Li Xian on the third day of the first month. On the fourth day, Li Xian was placed in Tiantong Palace. Soon, he restored the title of the Tang Dynasty, and all etiquette systems were restored to the old style during the reign of Emperor Gaozong Yongchun.
A few months later, 82-year-old Wu Zetian passed away. In this way, Tang Zhongzong Li Xi 'an became emperor for the second time, and Webster was made queen. During Zhongzong's second accession to the throne, disasters continued year after year and border incidents continued. In April of the first year of Shenlong, there was a rainstorm and hail in Tongguan County (now Tongchuan, Shaanxi Province), which flooded more than 400 families and killed many birds. In March of the third year of Shenlong (AD 707), a plague occurred from Shi Jing to Shandong, killing countless people.
This summer, more than 20 states in Shandong and Hebei suffered from drought again, and thousands of people died of hunger and disease. However, for all this, Zhong Zong and Wei Hou didn't take it to heart. Wei Houhui said to Zhongzong: "We have suffered enough for more than ten years, and now we have to live a free life." With Wei Hou's encouragement, in that year 1 1 month, when Zhongzong ascended the throne, they went to the south gate building of Luoyang City to watch the Cold War. At that time, it was freezing, the north wind was cold, and the northern conference semifinals waved naked and danced freely. Zhongzong and Wei Hou wore light fur clothes and worked tirelessly from morning till night. In February of the third year of Shenlong, Zhongzong and Wei Hou boarded Xuanwu Gate together with the near ministers to watch the ladies-in-waiting party drinking. Wei Hou was still unhappy, and asked Zhongzong to order the left and right maids to fight each other to decide the outcome.
They also sent ladies-in-waiting to set up stalls and let officials or officials pretend to be businessmen to trade. Because of unfair trade, ministers and ladies-in-waiting abused each other and swore at each other. Zong and Wei Hou both laughed after watching it. On the Lantern Festival in the first month of the fourth year of Shenlong (AD 708), Zhongzong and Wei Hou took off their robes of dragons and phoenixes, put on people's costumes, and led ministers to mingle with Chang 'an citizens to watch lanterns in the street in front of Huadu Temple. That night, according to Wei Hou's suggestion, Zhongzong released thousands of ladies-in-waiting to watch the lights, and more than half of them ran away. In February, Zhongzong, Wei Hou and the princesses came to Liyuan Stadium in Jincheng (now Xingping, Shaanxi) to watch the tug-of-war. In March, they visited the Peach Blossom Spring. In April, I went to the Peach Blossom Garden to enjoy cherry blossoms, decorated lanterns in Qin Long Pool and took a boat trip. Zhongzong and Wei Hou really tasted the joy of being the eldest son. The drama tour of Zhongzong and Wei Hou and his obedience to Wei Hou made political affairs more corrupt. Shortly after he ascended the throne for the second time, at the request of Wei Hou, Zhongzong made his father Wei king. In this regard, Jia Xu, the minister, objected to the laws that did not conform to our ancestors, saying, "Different surnames are not kings, and this has been the case since ancient times. As soon as the emperor was reset, he sealed his descendants and broke his promise to the world. " It turns out that according to the rules of the imperial court, only people with the same surname as the emperor can be crowned king. However, Zhongzong didn't listen to Jia Xu at all. At this time, Zhongzong remembered his previous promise: Wei Hou can ask for anything as long as he is happy.
After the restoration of Zhongzong, Wu Zetian passed away, but Wu's influence in North Korea was still very strong. Wu Sansi, the nephew of Wu Zetian, was named King of Dejing County at this time. Officials worshipped the third from the left and often rode horses. At first, Zhang Jian, Cui Xuanyong and others killed Zhang Yizhi. After Zhang Changzong, Xue Jichang, chief historian of Mingzhou (now Yongnian, Hebei), once said to Zhang Jian and others, "Although they have been eradicated, Wu Sansi and his gang are still there. We should use the situation to eradicate them and the country will be stable. " However, Zhang Jianzhi did not listen to this opinion. Wu Sansi is smart and good at watching the wind and steering. He saw Zhang Jian and others dispose of Zhang Yizhi, and left him alone for the time being. Through various relationships, his eldest son Wu Chongxun married Wei Hou's youngest daughter Princess Anle. In this way, Wu Sansi's position in North Korea was further consolidated. When Wu Zetian was alive, there was a woman named Shangguan Waner in the palace. She was very fond of Wu Zetian because she knew poetry and songs and had a gentle personality. After the restoration of Zhongzong, Shangguan Waner continued to gain trust and was in charge of drafting orders. Soon. Also known as Zhao Rong (female official name). When Wu Zetian was alive, Shangguan Waner had an affair with Wu Sansi. After Wu Sansi and Wei Hou became their children's in-laws, the relationship between Wu Sansi and Wei Hou also developed into an abnormal state through the collusion of Shangguan Waner.
At this time, Wei Hou completely degenerated. Wu Sansi often entered the palace and played chess with Wei Hou, while Zhongzong watched. Sometimes Wu Sansi and Wei Hou sit on the dragon bed and play games together, and always stand aside and give ideas. People outside the imperial court soon learned about these scandals. Wu San-si-yi didn't enter the palace for two days. After Wei, he asked Zhongzong to visit him. Because of the collusion between Wu Sansi and Wei Hou, Zhongzong listened to Wei Hou, and even what happened in North Korea, Zhongzong had to discuss with Wu Sansi. According to Wei Hou's opinion, Zhongzong appointed Wu Sansi as prime minister, which made Wu Sansi's power in North Korea much more prominent than that in Wu Zetian's period.
Zhongzong's fatuity, Wei Hou's chaotic politics and Wu Sansi's favor made the DPRK minister Zhang Jianzhi and others very uneasy. They repeatedly advised Zhongzong to get rid of Wu Sansi, weaken the power of Wu and strengthen the imperial power. However, at this time, Zhongzong will not listen to what they say anyway. Prior to this, Cui Jiao had remonstrated with Zhongzong, but instead of listening, Zhongzong told Wu Sansi what he had said. As a result, Cui Jiao was quickly demoted. Wu Sansi knew that Zhang Jianzhi and others wanted to get rid of him. Make friends with cronies, make use of Zhou, Ran, Guang Lucheng, Song Zhixun, Tai Fu Cheng, Li Jun, Yao Shao and other prison forces to discuss countermeasures with each other. These five people are Wu Sansi's eyes and ears, and they were called "think twice and five dogs" at that time. Five dogs gave Wu Sansi a lot of bad ideas. Later, Wu Sansi came to the palace to discuss with Queen Wei. After they made a plan, they ran to the Emperor Zhongzong to speak ill of five ministers: Zhang Jianzhi, Jing Hui, Yuan, Cui Xuanyong and Huan. They criticized the five ministers for monopolizing power and scheming by relying on their achievements.
Zhongzong believed it and asked them what to do. Wei Hou and Wu Sansi suggested that Zhong Zong establish five people as kings and take the method of promotion and demotion to seize their real power, and Zhong Zong agreed. In this way, Zhongzong named Huan as king of Fuyang county, Jing Hui as king of Pingyang county, Zhang Jianzhi as king of Hanyang county, Cui Xuanyong as king of Boling county and Yuan as king of Nanyang county. At the same time, he also gave the five ministers a lot of dyed colors, splendid flowers, gold and silver, and pommel horses. These five ministers are called You Chong. Really seized power. Wu Sansi dominates the state affairs, and Webster is behind him, which is even more domineering. Anyone who opposed him was expelled from the capital, and anyone who worked for him was entrusted with a heavy responsibility. Soon, Wu Yisi thought the time was ripe, so he listed charges through Tang Zhongzong and issued imperial edicts on the grounds that five ministers framed Wei Hou. Exile five ministers to distant frontiers. Huan was exiled to Guizhou (now Guixian, Guangxi) and died of clubbing. Jing Hui was exiled to Yazhou (now southeast of Haikou, Hainan Island) and murdered; Cui Xuanyong was imprisoned in Shirakawa (now Xibobai County), only halfway there; Zhang Jian was exiled to Xiangzhou (now Xiangfan, Hubei). Angry death: Yuan Shu was exiled to Zhou Huan (now northeast of Hechi, Guanghe River), was driven crazy and was later killed. Wu Sansi colluded with Wei to get rid of the five ministers. The arrogant is even more arrogant. He once proudly said to his cronies, "I don't know what a good man is and what a bad man is." As long as I am good, I am a good person. " At that time, all adulterers were snared by him.
Wei Hou's daughter Princess Anle is also an ambitious person. She wants to be the second Wu Zetian. With the connivance of Wei Hou, she dominated the court, humiliated ministers, ignored the king's laws and did whatever she wanted. Especially for the eldest son Li Zhongjun is jealous. She once wrote the imperial edict herself, covered the first part, and let Zhongzong cover the emperor's seal. Zhong Zong smiled and agreed to her request. She also claimed that she was Wei Hou's own daughter, and Li Zhongjun was not born to Hou Wei, and asked Zhongzong to be the wife of the emperor to replace the position of Crown Prince Li Zhongjun. Wei, the left servant, expressed his opposition to Zhongzong. Princess Anle said, "For Yu Lu, we have no right to discuss state affairs. A warrior (the name of Wu Zetian in the palace) can still be an emperor. Can't the emperor's daughter be an emperor? " Not only that, Princess Anle also suggested to Zhongzong that Kunming Pool (5) should be her own private lake, which was politely rejected by Zhongzong because there was no precedent. So Princess Anle was furious and ordered people to dig a Dingkun Lake for miles. Princess Anle also sent slaves to rob women among the people and act as handmaiden of her family.
Someone reported this situation to Yuan, the left captain. Yuan enforced the law impartially and arrested Princess Anle's slave. Anle Palace asked Zhongzong to order his release, but the weak Zhongzong actually agreed, so that Yuan Congyi said angrily, "Why did the emperor do this?" Princess Anle was bent on being the emperor's wife and son of heaven, and she was in cahoots with Wu Sansi and others, bringing disaster to the country and people, which made her eldest son Li Zhongjun feel extremely threatened and deeply dissatisfied.
On July 11th, the third year of Shenlong, Li Zhongjun, together with Yulin General Li Duozuo, led 300 Yulin soldiers to rush into Wu Sansi's house and kill Wu Sansi's father and son. Later, he led the troops into the palace from Sumen, trying to capture and kill Wu Sansi's accomplices Shangguan Waner, Princess Anle and Queen Wei. At this time, the banquet had just ended. General Liu Yu-lin reported that the prince had rebelled, and hurriedly led Princess Anle and Shangguan Waner to Xuanwu Gate. Because Liu mobilized the right-wing feather forest army, and others were outnumbered, and because Zhongzong issued an imperial edict on Xuanwu Gate, announcing the pardon of the insurgents, one hundred feather forest troops were shaken and lost their morale. As a result, Prince Li Zhongjun failed to attack Xuanwu Gate. Zuo Yulin's general Li Duozuo was killed by his men, and Li Zhongjun also killed his men after he fled to Gambu County (now Lu Xian County, Shaanxi Province). After the pacification, Princess Anle and Queen Wei became even more unscrupulous. Whenever Zhongzong came to the court to listen to politics, Wei Hou also sat behind the curtain of the court and gave orders. In February of the first year of Jinglong (A.D. 709), Wei Hou claimed that there were five-color auspicious clouds rising from her skirt in her suitcase, and ordered the painter to draw the following picture for civil and military officials to see.
Wei Hou also instructed Xiao Wei, the right general, to know about the Taishigong incident. Ye Jia's ruling middle school said: "At the beginning, Gaozu did not claim to be the emperor, and the world sang' Taolizi'; Before he proclaimed himself emperor, the world song "The King of Qin breaks the array"; Before Emperor Gaozong became emperor, the world sang "side opening"; Before the emperor ascended the throne, the world sang Wu Meiniang. Before he ascended the throne, the world sang Wang Shizhou and Sangtiaoshu, which shows people's hearts. Now that the Emperor and anxious to return, the Empress of Rende, have unified the whole country, I would like to enter the Twelve Sangs. Please declare China and foreign countries and enter Yuefu. " Zhongzong readily agreed. So ... Twelve sang songs praising Wei Hou are widely circulated. The ambitions of Queen Wei and Princess Anle have been exposed, and the ministers of the DPRK are furious and have been talking about it. At this time, the former Xuzhou (now Xuchang, Henan) soldiers joined the army. (6) Yan Qinrong wrote to Zhongzong, accusing Wei Hou of interfering in state affairs and Princess Anle of endangering the country, exposing their plot and warning the emperor that it was impossible to prevent. After seeing it, Zhongzong called Yan Qinrong to court and asked him face to face. Yan Qinrong boasted and showed no fear. Zhongzong pondered many things and had nothing to say, so he let Yan Qinrong step down temporarily. Who knows that Yan Qinrong hasn't walked out of the door, Wei Hou instructed his cronies, the Ministry of War, Shangshu Zongchu, to send someone to recover Yan Qinrong, and threw him to death on the court stone in the main hall in front of Zhongzong. ,
Queen Wei and Princess Anle conspired to enter the game and were poisoned. What to do next? Wei Hou didn't plan carefully. In particular, she felt even more uneasy at the thought of the comments, speculations and accusations that North Korean ministers might make about China's death in short. Therefore, Wei Hou didn't mourn the secret of Zhongzong, but first called his cronies into the palace to discuss the strategy of settling down. After discussion, it was decided that Pei Shangshu of the Ministry of Punishment and Shangshu of the Ministry of Industry should handle the affairs of the court and stay in the East Palace: General Zhao Chengen of Sargingo (1) and General Xue Chongjian of Zuohu were ordered to lead 500 elite soldiers to Junchuan to guard against the death of Wang Chongfu. Li Zhongfu lived in Zhongzong for two years. As a result of Wei Hou's frame-up, as early as at the beginning of his accession to the throne, he was banished to Zhou Jun, where he was in charge of local defense. He was not allowed to ask about state affairs or come to the capital. Wei Hou had a ghost in his heart, and he was afraid that Li Tongfu would make trouble after the death of Zhongzong, so he took preventive measures. Empress Wei also agreed with her brother Wei Wen, who was appointed as Prince Shaobao (an official who assisted the prince) and established Li Zhongmao as the Crown Prince.
Li Zhongmao is the fourth son of Zhongzong. In addition, Wei Hou ordered governments at all levels to station 50,000 troops in the capital, which was in the charge of General Wei Wen. The son of Wei Wen and his other brothers were divided into Jin Zuo, You Ying and Yu, who guarded the palace, and everything was arranged properly. Wei Hou began to play the throne for Zhongzong in Taiji Hall, announced the legacy system, and took charge of the state affairs in the near future. Three days later, 16-year-old Prince Li Zhongmao ascended the throne in front of the coffin, honoring Wei Ruyun as the Empress Dowager, and the Empress Dowager facing the Regent. Just when Webster and his henchmen thought that the overall situation was set and they were immersed in the joy of victory, the situation in the imperial court suddenly changed! Li Longji, the nephew of Zhongzong, staged a coup shortly after Webster came to Korea and killed the Webster Group. What a sudden change!
What kind of person is Li Longji and how did he plan the coup? Let's start from the beginning.
Thirty years from Hongdao to Kaiyuan (2) was a turbulent period for the court of the Tang Dynasty. After Tang Gaozong's death, his son Li Xian succeeded to the throne, which was called Zhongzong in history.
Soon, Wu Zetian abolished Zhongzong and made Li Yue emperor, known as Zong Rui in history. Zhongzong and Zong Rui are brothers, that is, the seven sons and eight sons of Gaozong. Later, Wu Zetian proclaimed himself emperor and Zong Rui was abolished. At that time, the replacement of the throne was really like a lantern. In her later years, Wu Zetian suffered from heart failure, infirmity and power transfer. After the restoration of Zhongzong, Zong Rui was made Taidi, and Li Longji was Zong Rui's third son. Li Longji was born in August of the first year of Hanggong (AD 685) in Luoyang, the eastern capital. At the age of two, he was made king of Chu. He was clever and eloquent when he was a child. It is said that when he was seven years old, he went to Tang Chao. When Emperor Wu of Jin saw that his ceremonial procession was very neat, he became jealous and shouted at him, trying to confuse the procession. Seeing this, he reprimanded Wu Shuo: "My family is engaged in a lawsuit, what's it to you? How dare you persecute my rider! " ! Wu Zetian later heard that he was clever and brave. At the end of the reign of Emperor Zhongzong, there were constant internal disputes in the imperial court and people's hearts were in turmoil. When Li Longji saw this scene, he privately contacted a group of talents as his own strength.
Later, Zhongzong died suddenly, and when he came to Korea, Wei Wen and others plotted to replace the surname Wei. At that time, a Taoist named Feng Daoli had a good relationship with Li Longji. One day, Taoist Feng came home and said to him, "The place where you live is called. Many people say that "dragon" means "dragon". Now Webster's name has been changed to "Tang Long", which coincides with your name. This is the time for you to achieve the imperial career. " Li Longji was very happy after hearing this. Then I asked Princess Taiping to discuss how to get rid of Wei Hou. Princess Taiping is the youngest daughter of Emperor Gaozong and Li Longji's aunt. At that time, he was in his thirties, plump, dignified and quiet, full of tactics, much like Wu Zetian. When Wu Zetian was alive, she often participated in the discussion of confidential events, and was told that the palace was strict every time, and she was not allowed to go out and leak. In this way, Princess Taiping gradually developed the habit of being cautious and not talking much.
Wu Zetian has been in power for more than 20 years. There are so many royal relatives and great national prestige. Only Princess Taiping enjoys peace alone, and nothing has happened. She didn't lament from glory to humiliation, from prosperity to decline. Her father was an emperor, because later, her husband was a prince and her son was a county king, which was extremely expensive. In Wu Zetian's later years, when Zhongzong was restored, Princess Taiping participated in the action of getting rid of Zhang Yizhi, made contributions to Zhongzong, and was named Princess Taiping of Zhenguo by Zhongzong. Her house is surrounded by guards, and she lives near a house with ten steps, one post, five steps and one whistle, which is similar to the palace. In view of Princess Taiping's wit and pivotal position in the imperial court, when Ji Longji considered getting rid of Hou Wei, the first thing he thought of was to discuss with Princess Taiping. Princess Taiping approved of Li Longji's coup plan and sent her son Xue Chongjian as Li Longji's assistant. One day, Li Longji discussed the action plan with Xue Chongjian, Liu Youqiu, Ma Sizong, Ge Fushun, Li Xianxuan, Pu Run and others.
Most of these people, except Purun, a monk from Changbao Temple, are generals of the imperial court. During the discussion, it was suggested that the implementation of the action plan should be approved by the king. King Xiang is Li Longji's father, Li Dan. To this, Li Longji expressed different opinions. He said categorically: I saved the national crisis and dealt with your father's anxiety. If it succeeds, it will be the luck of the country. If I fail, I will be regarded as a martyr, loyal and filial. What is it necessary for my father to know first? Besides, if I ask my father, he will agree to do so. This is to let my father take part in dangerous activities. What shall we do if he doesn't agree? In the final analysis, asking my father for instructions has disadvantages. After careful discussion, everyone finally agreed with Li Longji. On the night of June 20th, the first year of Tang Long (AD 7 10), Li Longji led Liu Youqiu, Zhong Shaojing and others into Xuanwu Gate, attacked and killed general Yu Lin Weber and corps commander Gao Song, then cut off the gate and rushed into the harem. Zuo Wanqi (4) entered from the left, and right Wanqi entered from the right, and finally met in front of Lingyan Pavilion. At that time, the guards of Zongziguan, who were in front of the Taiji Hall, heard the shouting and killing, all dressed up and went into battle. At that time, in the harem, swords and guns hit each other, candlelight shone, ShaSheng soared into the sky, and four wars were fought. Before long, Li Longji won. In the melee, Wei Hou ran into the Qi Fei camp in a panic, trying to get their protection, only to be killed by the mutinous soldiers.
Webster's confidants Princess Anle and Shangguan Waner were also beheaded. After the palace coup, Li Longji immediately went to see his father, King Li Dan, and asked for forgiveness for not asking in advance. Wang Xiang hurried forward to embrace Li Longji and said with tears: Thanks to my son, the national crisis was eliminated and the people's unrest was calmed down. The next day, Prime Minister Li Dan and the young emperor Li Zhongmao boarded the Anfu gatehouse to comfort the people and grant amnesty to the world. Since then, Li Longji has been promoted to Wang Ping, Xue Chongjian to Li Jiejun, Zhong Shaojing to Zhongshu Assistant Minister, and Liu Youqiu to Zhongshu Sheren, all of whom participated in government affairs. In addition, messengers were sent to Zhou Jun to express condolences to Li Tongfu of Wang Qiao. A few days later, the young emperor Li Zhongmao issued an imperial edict. He wrote: "My uncle, the king, was the son of Emperor Gaozong, and once ceded the world to the first emperor. At the beginning of Shenlong (5), there was a clear decree to appoint the eldest brother as the deputy king. Please ask my uncle to be the king, that is, the emperor's throne, and I will retire to my old residence. " As a result, Prime Minister Li Dan became emperor again, still known as Tang Ruizong. Li Zhongmao, the young emperor, was named King Wen, and Li Longji, the king of Ping, was named Crown Prince. Zong Rui changed to Jingyun in this year.
* * * Zong Rui has six sons, the eldest son Li Xian, the second son Li Chengyi, the third son Li Longji, the fourth son Li Longfan, the fifth son Li, and the sixth son Li Longti (6). Except for the premature death of the sixth son, the relationship between the other five sons has always been harmonious and obedient. It is said that Li Longji once made a big pillow and a big quilt, and five brothers shared the pillowcase to show their friendship. Indeed, the friendship and love between Zong Rui's five sons are rare in the palace of the Tang Dynasty. Moreover, Li Longji's father, the king of peace in Zong Rui, is also full of love and understanding. The most prominent example of this is that Zong Rui ceded the throne to Li Longji.
It was June of the first year of Yanhe River (AD 7 12), and there was a rumor somewhere saying, "According to the astrology, the emperor is in trouble and the crown prince should be enthroned." Obviously, the purpose of making this rumor is to sow discord between Zong Rui and Prince Li Longji. Who knows, Zong Rui was not angry after listening, but said: "Bode can avoid disaster, and my mind has been made up." In July, Zong Rui issued an imperial edict to pass the throne to the Crown Prince. It is said that after knowing this situation, Li Longji went to worship Zong Rui, kowtowing and crying and refusing. Zong Rui said to him calmly, "I can be emperor for the second time because of your achievements. Now, according to the astrology, the throne is in disaster, and I want to abdicate and avoid it. " Only virtue and great achievements can turn disaster into happiness. It's a little late to pass on the throne to you now. Why did you refuse? Do we have to wait until the coffin acceded to the throne to be filial? "Upon hearing this, Li Longji had to nod. In this way, claiming to be the emperor's father, he passed the throne to Li. Apart from military and political events, Li Longji can also decide whether to award or punish officials who are below the teachings. Li Longji is the Tang Xuanzong in history. Just when the throne was handed over peacefully and the imperial court was calm, suddenly another hurricane fell from the sky.
This is a bigger mess. Princess Taiping is the chief culprit in this mess. It turns out that Princess Taiping became more and more arrogant after helping the coup to get rid of Wei. Her countryside is getting bigger and bigger, including almost all the fertile fields near Beijing. The objects in her palace are more and more exquisite and diverse, and the people who specially purchase for her are on the way to Sichuan, Jiangnan and Lingnan. The ceremonial chariots and horses she used were no different from those used by the emperor in the palace. There are hundreds of young men accompanying her, all dressed in Luo Qi. As for the elderly women, there are thousands more. There are countless toys such as dogs and horses given to her all over the world. In addition, Princess Taiping's private life is getting worse and worse. At that time. Shortly after her husband Wu died, a monk named was very rich. He has a lot of treasures and is good at buttering up powerful people. So Princess Taiping is with him. Princess Taiping once won the throne of the holy mountain temple for Fan Huimou, a monk in Xuanzong, adding three products and sealing the duke. Not only that, Princess Taiping's interference in state affairs also made Xuanzong unbearable. She has princes inside and princes outside, specializing in different plans. At that time, there were seven prime ministers in North Korea, five of whom were closely related to Princess Taiping.
A man named Xiao Zhizhong, because he was attached to Princess Taiping, was promoted from a state official to a minister of punishments and a secretary of the legal department. He went in and out of Princess Taiping's mansion at will, surrounded the princess in the morning and evening, and became a loyal servant of the princess. There are Chang Yuankai and Li Ci, who hold the imperial army in the palace and often pay their respects to Princess Taiping in private. Born two years ago (7 13), on July 3rd, Shang Shu left servants to shoot Dou Huaizhen, Shi Zhong Cenxi, Ling Xiao Zhizhong, Chang Shi Li Jin, General Chang Yuankai of Zuo Yulin, and General Li Ci of You Yulin, under the call of Princess Taiping, came to the Princess Palace to plot, and agreed that the next day, July 4th, Yu Lin's army would make an insurrection and launch a coup. However, this conspiracy was soon discovered by Tang Xuanzong. Late at night on July 3rd, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty ordered Wang Lifan, Xue Liye, Guo Shangshu of the Ministry of War, and General Wang Maozhong to take out more than 200 idle horse servants from the stables and lead more than a dozen cronies, including Li, Gao Lishi, Guo Yi, etc., out of Taibu Temple, out of Wudemen and into the palace gate, and unexpectedly, at the north gate of the palace. These people are not clear-headed. Princess Taiping found that the situation was not good, so she quickly fled into the holy mountain temple and stayed there for a few days before going home. However, in the end, she was sentenced to death. With Princess Taiping, dozens of his sons and henchmen died.
The goods seized from Princess Taiping's home are piling up, and the rare treasures are almost the same as those in the palace. Land and livestock are scattered in many places and have not been collected for several years. In the home of Fan Hui, a monk prized by Princess Taiping, hundreds of thousands of properties were also seized. The day after the coup plot of Princess Taiping was crushed, Zong Rui joyfully issued an imperial edict, announcing that all rights were completely handed over to Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty, and he himself was detached and became the emperor's father. In this way, Tang Xuanzong completely mastered the power of the state. This year1February, his political title was "Kaiyuan".
At the beginning of Tang Xuanzong's reign, he attached great importance to good governance. In order to better manage the country, he made Yao Chong the prime minister. Yao Chong served as the minister of war in Tang Ruizong period, but was later demoted to Tongzhou (now Dali, Shaanxi Province) as the secretariat for offending Princess Taiping.
It is said that when Yao Chong was called to Chang 'an, the capital, Xuanzong happened to be hunting in the suburbs. Xuanzong asked Yao Chong, "Can you hunt?" Yao Chong replied, "I used to chase animals on horseback when I was in my twenties, and then I went to school. Although I am old now, I can still ride horses and shoot arrows. " Xuanzong let him take part in hunting activities, and Yao Chong really believed it. Xuanzong was very happy and appointed him Prime Minister, but Yao Chong avoided him. Xuanzong was surprised to ask what the reason was. Yao Chong said: "I have ten major events. I don't know if the emperor will adopt them. I dare not accept them."
When Xuanzong asked about ten major events, Yao Chong put forward: "The first thing is to govern the country with benevolence, without severe punishment; Second, within ten years, we will not fight against foreign countries; Third, eunuchs are not allowed to interfere in state affairs; Fourth, the national prestige of the royal family should not occupy an important position in the court; Fifth, the princes broke the law and committed the same crime as the people; Sixth, in addition to rent, no additional collection is allowed; Seventh, don't worship Buddha or build a Buddhist temple; Eighth, treat the minister with courtesy; Ninth, courtiers are allowed to express different opinions; Tenth, it is strictly forbidden for foreign relatives to interfere in political affairs. " After hearing this, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty agreed, and Yao Chong assumed the responsibility of prime minister. After nearly 30 years of court turmoil, there was good cooperation between Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty and Yao Chong, and the history of the Tang Dynasty entered a dynamic "Kaiyuan Shi Sheng" period.
