Ren Rongrong, a translator and writer in the field of children's literature, passed away. He had made great achievements in this field and was a children's writer with international influence.
Ren Rongrong began translating and creating children's literature in the 1940s. He has translated many classic fairy tales, such as "The Complete Fairy Tales of Andersen", "Peter Pan", "The Wind in the Willows", "Pinocchio", "Pippi Longstocking", "Charlotte's Web", etc., all of which were promoted by him. Otherwise we will lose a lot of happiness in our childhood.
Compared with the low-key and little-known translation of these fairy tales, Ren Rongrong is famous in China for his original works "Brainless and Unhappy", "A Genius Acrobat", "Dad's Teacher" and " "I am a big or small person", "I became an invisible man", "The Story of Tutu", "The Detective of Tintin", etc.
I think there is a saying about his achievements that is very appropriate, that is: "It is a blessing for Chinese children's literature and a blessing for Chinese children to have him." You know, it is because of him that Chinese children can enjoy so much imaginative and artistic expression in their childhood. If it were not for the translation works of Mr. Ren Rongrong, our childhood would really be a lot less happy.
The old man’s works have influenced generations of people, so he has won many awards. Only the ones I know of include the Chen Bochui Children's Literature Award for Outstanding Contribution, the Soong Ching Ling Children's Literature Award for Special Contribution, the Soong Ching Ling Camphor Tree Award, and the International Children's Books Alliance Translation Award. And in 2002, he was awarded the honorary title of "Senior Translator" by the Translators Association of China. In 2012, Ren Rongrong was awarded the honorary title of "China Translation Culture Lifetime Achievement Award" by the Translators Association of China.
Mr. Ren Rongrong has devoted his whole life to providing children with better artistic enlightenment. Before each translation, he carefully selects and then adds literary polish. He is a very nice old gentleman.
