The National Characteristics of Bai Melody

Literally, the lyrics of Bai Diao have formed a unique poetic rhythm of this nation, commonly known as 37 15 style, that is, each lyric consists of three seven sentences and one five sentences (most of Bai Yun basically follows this rhythm). The long poem Ci Ji Hua Shan Yong Cang Er Jing written by Yang Nai, a Bai poet in Ming Dynasty, was written in this way, so it is also called Hua Shan Style. The vast majority of Bai folk songs are short songs with seven or eight sentences, which are divided into two sections. The first section usually begins with three words and one rhyme, followed by two seven sentences and one five sentences. Xiaque consists of three seven-character poems and one five-character poem, and the upper and lower que constitute a complete poem.

For example, Cui Yinyin/Xiao Mei, you are a star/a good-looking person/more beautiful than Guanyin. //Peony blushes when she sees you./Peony is very excited when she sees you./As long as she sees her sister, her illness will be alleviated. There is also the first sentence that uses lyrics to restrict rhyming, such as: Shi Baoshan goes to Tulip/Little Sister, where do you live/Sleeping Silkworm Eyebrows, Cheng/Blue Flower and Green Clothes. //I would like to be a mirror in front of your window/a water tank behind your kitchen/I would like to be a mirror in front of my sister's window every night. Bai folk songs pay attention to the rhythm of rhyme, and if one of them runs out of rhyme, it is considered to have lost. The lyrics of Bai folk songs in different regions are basically the same, but the tunes vary from region to region, which are mainly divided into Dali tune, Jianchuan tune, Xishan tune, Dongshan tune and Shanbei tune. Some are loud and rude, and some are quiet and touching. There are many kinds of content, not only folk songs, love songs, folk songs, songs about things, children's songs and so on. And there are a lot of humorous anti-Italian songs, which show the optimistic, confident, cheerful and lively national character of the Bai people.
