Sun Shangxiang was a native of Wu during the Three Kingdoms period. He was originally the princess of Soochow and later married Liu Bei. The daughter of Sun Jian and Mrs. Wu, the sister of Sun Ce, Sun Quan, Sun Yi, Sun Kuang, and Sun Lang, and the third wife of Liu Bei. He has been fond of martial arts since he was a child, and all his maids carry knives. They often enjoy fencing with others. They carry sharp weapons and are very beautiful. Because she was the wife of Liu Bei, the "hero of troubled times", and she was determined to win over men, she was called the "Owl Queen".
In December of the 14th year of Jian'an (209), she and Liu Bei entered into a political marriage. Mrs. Sun was brave and powerful, and Liu Bei was very afraid of her. The couple treated each other with suspicion like a formidable enemy. After the alliance between the two countries broke down, Sun Quan took his sister back to Soochow, and the couple severed their relationship.
According to historical documents, Sun Jian had five sons and two daughters, and the eldest daughter was married to Hongzi, a native of Qu'er. Therefore, Mrs. Sun is generally recognized as the second daughter.
There are many opinions about Sun Shangxiang’s life. But no matter what the real ending is in history, what deserves recognition for future generations is that Sun Shangxiang was an outstanding heroine in the chaotic Three Kingdoms period.
