cicada
Don? Yu Shinan
Cicada droops like a tassel on a hat, its tentacles suck the clear dew, and its voice spreads from the branches of the straight Shulang tree.
Cicada is far away from cicada because cicada is on a tall tree, not relying on autumn wind.
On the bleak phoenix tree, cicadas drink low and clear dew, and the cicada sound is crisp and loud, echoing among the trees. Living on high branches, the swarm can be proud. Without the help of autumn wind, the sound is still far away. This is a poem about things. The poet uses cicadas to hold things to show his ambition.
This poem expresses the poet's noble character and interest through the habits and characteristics of cicadas. On the surface, the poet is writing cicadas, but in fact he is expressing his lofty aspirations and refined character.
Sagging: refers to the drooping part of the ancient hat belt. The shape of the tentacles of the cicada's head is similar to this, so it is called "drooping". The cicada hung down and drank the dew from the tree. In fact, it is a metaphor for the poet who is in a high position, but still upright. Cicadas sing in Qingyuan, passing through sparse phoenix trees, and the artistic conception is detached.
The last two sentences are the crowning touch of the poem: not by the autumn wind, you speak loudly in the distance. Cicadas spread far because they are on high branches, not because of the autumn wind. This is also a philosophical poem: a man of noble character can become famous without external rendering.
This poem emphasizes the beauty and strength of a personality. As the saying goes, "Poetry is like a person", and Yu Shinan is like a cicada in poetry, with integrity and noble character. He is not attached to the rich and powerful, he is happy in poverty.
