Creation background
Yang Yan, then prime minister, was banished to Sidu Road in Yazhou in two years (78 1) and wrote this poem "From Yazhou to Death Gate".
Hainan is located in the border and isolated from the world in ancient times. The feudal rulers of past dynasties regarded it as a place of exile for "guilty officials", and the literature of demoting officials in ancient times became a major feature of Hainan literature.
The Tang Dynasty was the heyday of China's poetry. Officials and bureaucrats who have been demoted to Hainan use poems to express their feelings about Hainan's scenery. This poem was written when the poet was exiled to Yazhou and passed through the gate of hell.
When the poet was demoted, he knew that Hainan was a wild place, and I'm afraid he couldn't go back. Hainan's sinister environment jumps over it. Then I wrote that I have to go through the gate of hell when I get to Yazhou, but I don't know if I can go through the gate of hell alive. Expressed the poet's sadness and pain.
The whole poem has no scenery, but the hardships of the road are set off by the relegated person's "never coming back" and "living in the gate of hell", which shows the sinister environment of Yazhou and the gate of hell to the fullest, fully expressing the author's sorrow of being relegated and the sorrow of being uncertain about life and death.
