Appreciation of Two Poems of Spring Thoughts

Jia Zhi was demoted to Yuezhou Sima in Tang Suzong Dynasty. In Interpretation of Tang Poems, Tang Ruxun thought that some quatrains written by Jia Zhi were "all written in exile in Chu". This poem was probably written by him during his relegation. The sorrow and hate expressed in the poem seems to be not ordinary leisure and hate, but the sorrow of flowing people and the hatred of expelling guests caused by his status and situation at that time. One of his other poems, Looking at the West Pavilion in Spring, can be referenced with this poem: "The sun is long and the wind is warm and the willows are green, and the wild geese return to fly into the sky." Smelling the flute on Yueyang Tower can make the spring heart full. "

here, except that the poet is in Yuezhou, the scenery of "Liu Qingqing" is similar to that of "the grass is green and the willow is yellow", and the scene of "the sun is long and the wind is warm" is similar to the "spring day" and "the east wind" that "tends to provoke hatred for a long time". As for the "spring heart" of "full of Dongting", it is also roughly synonymous with the "spring thoughts" mentioned in this poem. "Spring Heart" is the homesickness triggered by the arrival and departure of wild geese in spring: "Spring Thoughts" is a growing sorrow that can't be banished even in the beautiful spring.

This poem is titled "Spring Thoughts", and every sentence in the poem is about spring. In the use of artistic techniques, the poet contrasts the first two sentences with the last two, which makes the sorrow and hate to be expressed doubly strong. The first sentence, "the grass is green and the willow is yellow", has been dyed very brightly with light green and goose yellow. The second sentence, "Peach blossoms are chaotic and fragrant with flowers", adds purples and white colors to this painting with a dark pen, and conveys the thick spring scene with flowers hanging off and flowers blooming with a pen that depicts the appearance of gas, making the spring scenery on the picture more colorful and noisy. The poet wrote about the spring scenery in these two sentences, aiming at setting off the deep sorrow and hatred that can't be eliminated in sharp contrast with this beautiful scenery from the opposite side.

The last two poems turn to the poet's sadness. This kind of sorrow and hatred is deeply rooted in the heart, and it is impossible to eliminate it because of the beauty of the outside spring. Feng Yan in the Southern Tang Dynasty wrote the words "Every spring comes, the melancholy remains the same", which directly wrote this fact. Jia Zhi, however, doesn't write so directly, but don't be surprised. With unexpected ideas, the poetic expression is more profound and tortuous.

In the third sentence of the poem, "The east wind doesn't blow away your worries", instead of blaming the east wind for being cold and heartless. This is a deeper layer in poetic thinking, which makes the poem have the wonderful effect of avoiding the flat and seeing the strange. In the fourth sentence, "Spring can provoke hatred for a long time", instead of saying that it is boring because of depression, it produces the feeling that days are like years, but in turn, it is said that spring provokes hatred, which makes its conception more novel and its wording more ingenious.

when people are upset and helpless, they often take their anger out on others or things. However, the poet blames the sorrow and hate on the east wind and spring day, which have nothing to do with it. It seems unreasonable to blame the east wind for blowing away the sorrow and the spring day for prolonging the hatred. However, judging from the language that poetry is lyrical rather than reasoning, and from the poet's unique feelings and rich associations, it has its own reasons. Because, of course, the poet's sorrow is invisible and can't be blown away by the east wind, but the arrival of the east wind can not only drive away the cold and revive the vegetation, but the poet also hopes that it can blow away the sorrow in his heart, and he will be disappointed and complain because he can't blow it away, which is human and understandable. Although the poet's hatred can't be prolonged or shortened in spring, after the spring comes, the days are getting longer and longer, and in the poet's feeling, the days will be more difficult to pass away. Zhang Hua's "Love Poem" expresses the same psychological state, and expresses the poet's subjective sense of time. Starting from such a psychological state, it is also reasonable for poets to complain that spring brings hatred.

The language of poetry may break through common sense sometimes, but it must be understandable to readers. In other words, a poem can accommodate association, whimsy, fantasy, and wishful thinking, but it is not absurd; A poet can fly freely with his imagination, but there must be something in his emotional expression that can arouse the reader's sense of * * *. This poem "Spring Thoughts" is just like this.
