The world needs humility, but more importantly, confidence. So, what we often have to do is applaud ourselves.
Among all Li Bai's poems, I like his sentence the most: I will come back again after all my gold is gone, I am born with talents that will be useful! I think his words have saved countless people throughout the ages; they have given strength to many people who were about to retreat and were wavering, allowing them to regain their confidence and cheer up again.
When watching TV variety shows, I often hear those famous or unknown singers. The first words they say when they come on stage are: Let’s give them some applause! In other words: The applause is not warm enough, please be warmer! In fact, if you look at them themselves, they are applauding themselves as they walk. They are so confident that no matter whether the audience is moving or not, drumming or not drumming, they will unwaveringly applaud themselves.
They themselves have applauded themselves. If you are sitting below, can you still be stingy with the enthusiasm in your hands?
I used to dislike this approach. I always think that applauding is a person’s freedom. If I want to drum, I can drum. If I don’t drum, I won’t drum. Why should I listen to you? But when I was forced to take the stage one time, I realized I was wrong and I completely changed my mind.
It was my first time on the podium. Facing more than a hundred unfamiliar faces below, I found that I could not say a single word that I had planned to talk about. Moreover, my hand holding the microphone kept shaking and my feet were shaking. How could this happen? At this time, the host seemed to have discovered something. She came over and leaned into my ear and said softly: "Come on, give yourself some applause!" Then, she called on everyone: "Let's all applaud!"
When I applauded myself, and when everyone’s applause rang out, I found that my hands and feet no longer trembled. I never thought that applauding oneself could have such great power. Therefore, from now on, whether on or off stage, I will never forget to applaud. Applauding others is also for myself, because you will one day be on stage.
Nothing in life is smooth sailing. In the face of harvest and glory, we should boldly applaud ourselves. When facing setbacks and hardships, we also have to applaud ourselves. Muster up your own courage and perseverance.
When a person learns to applaud himself in public, what else does he have to worry about and fear?
Applause is the ladder of progress for a person!
