"Beiyuan tribute tea" began in the Tang Dynasty and flourished in the Song Dynasty. After Fujian, Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties, it lasted for 458 years. The imperial courts of past dynasties set up "Belon" in Jian 'an Beiyuan (now Jian 'ou) (for the emperor to enjoy) and sent envoys to make tribute tea, which became famous all over the world. All towns and villages in the city produce tea, both official and private.
Song Huizong and Evonne said in "On Daguan Tea": "The prosperity of this dynasty, Liugong was built at the age of 20, and Longzu Fengbing is famous all over the world."
Zhou Jiang praised "the tea in the world, Beiyuan is the best" in the Supplement to Tea Classics.
In the Song Dynasty, Ding Wei praised "Beiyuan Dragon Tea" in "Beiyuan Baked New Tea", which was "rare and expensive" and "if you want to get what you want, try one of them first". In Jian 'an Snow, the poet Lu You spoke highly of "the official tea in Jianxi is the best in the world".
Today's Yuan Gong tea is a specialty of Jian 'ou City, Nanping City, Fujian Province, and a geographical symbol of agricultural products in China.
Jian 'ou is a subtropical maritime monsoon climate with four distinct seasons and abundant rainfall. It is rainy in spring and summer and dry in autumn and winter. There is a saying that "one mountain has four seasons, and ten miles is different from the sky". The annual average temperature 14-20℃, annual rainfall 1600- 1800 mm, sunshine hours 1600 hours, annual relative humidity of 80% and frost-free period of 280 days are suitable for tea tree growth.
Beiyuan Gongcha products are compact in appearance, green in color, brownish yellow, oily, rich and lasting in aroma, fragrant in flowers and fruits, mellow and sweet in taste, clear in orange and yellow in soup, thick and soft in leaf bottom, and red and green in leaf bottom.
