The form of classical poetry is extremely free. Except rhyme, all the metrical rules that modern poetry needs to abide by are unconstrained in classical poetry. It can be seen from the ancient poems of the Tang Dynasty that the skills of using legal sentences were becoming more and more mature at that time. Therefore, ancient poetry has been written in a flat and scattered way, and sometimes antithetical sentences are used, which is different from ancient poetry before the appearance of modern poetry.
After the form of metrical poetry was established in the early Tang Dynasty, later poets still did not give up the use of classical poetry while creating metrical poetry. They inherited the realistic writing methods in various periods since the appearance of The Book of Songs, which not only made them more proficient in writing skills, but also reflected the social life at that time more widely than in the past. For example, Li Bai's Difficult to Go to the Sky, Du Fu's Farewell to the Old and Welcome to the New, Gao Shi's Yan Ge Xing, Cen Can's The Journey to the West, Bai Juyi's Charcoal Man, Han Yu's Rock Breaking, Li He's Dream of Red Mansions, etc.
After the establishment of the Tang Dynasty, Emperor Taizong and his founding fathers, as a generation of "English masters", all made it very clear that they wanted to get rid of the extravagant style of writing in Qi and Liang Dynasties and opposed "seeking truth from facts and conforming to people's desires" (Preface to the Imperial Capital of Li Shimin). In his poetry creation, he advocated praising Taiping, praising the voice of elegance and integrity of the whole world, and also advocating the positive spirit of making contributions and helping the people. We don't deny that all the poets in the Six Dynasties wrote good words and developed well, so we attach importance to both lyricism and literary talent, which undoubtedly has a great influence on the development of poetry in the Tang Dynasty. During the reign, Yang Jiong, Lu, Luo and other "four outstanding poets" entered the poetry world, and they promoted the development of Tang poetry with their own poetry creation. They advocate that poetry should be full of vigor, and criticize the grandiose style of poetry without backbone. ? Later, poets such as Du Fu, Shen Quanqi and Song appeared one after another. It advocates that poetry should return to the tradition of appealing to both refined and popular tastes, and vigorously carry forward the "Han and Wei style". Five, seven-character poems and five-character poems, after the creative practice of many poets in the early Tang Dynasty, were finally finalized in the hands of Li Qiao, Du, Song, Shen Quanqi and others, becoming eternal models.
