Liu Shenxu in "The Biography of Talented Scholars of the Tang Dynasty"

The road ends with white clouds, and the spring and green streams grow. From time to time, fallen flowers arrive, carrying the fragrance of flowing water from afar. The free door faces the mountain road, and the deep willow reading hall. Every day, the bright light shines on the clothes. If the author was not deliberately marked, how many people would think that this poem must have been written by Wang Wei, or they would also guess that it was written by Meng Haoran. In fact, it’s not surprising to guess them. Liu Shenxu and Meng Xiangyang were close friends, and they often sang harmony. Their poetry styles were similar, and Wang Wei was a big fan of Meng Haoran, so traces of his poetry style can be traced.

It is not unreasonable for later generations to compare Liu Shenxu to Shen Song and the same age as Li Du. ?Liu Shenxu's poems are actually of a very high standard. It is not unreasonable to say that Liu Shenxu was one of the most accomplished poets in the prosperous Tang Dynasty. ?It is a pity that a large number of his works were lost after the "Sikuquanshu" was compiled.

"He Yue Ying Ling Ji" commented on Liu Shenxu this way:

Shenxu's poems are full of deep emotions, long thoughts, and strange words. There were several people singing loudly in the southeast, but their voices were melodious and unparalleled. Only their spirit and bones could not catch the princes. Since Yongming has returned, it can be a great achievement for Jiangbiao. For example, "the sky is filled with pine trees and the water shines, and there are people when the scriptures are heard", and "the sky is thousands of miles away, and there is only one boat day and night", and "returning to dreams is like spring water, leisurely circling my hometown"... these are also words from outside the country. It is a pity that it will not last forever, and the sky will shatter the national treasure.

Liu Shenxu, Meng Haoran, and Wang Changling wrote many poems in harmony. Meng Haoran called Liu Shenxu a hermit, and Liu called Meng Yiran. Wang Changling wrote many farewell poems, including many poems written to Liu Shenxu. . ?You can record a song for everyone to feast their eyes on:

"Send Liu Shenxu back to get the interpretation of Hongci"

When Taiqing heard the cranes in the sea, the wanderers attracted the attention of the countryside.

The sound follows Yu Yiyuan. The potential and return to the cloud will be convenient.

The green laurels bloom again in spring, and the white clouds change at dusk.

Flying in etiquette, how can it be like tears again?

We often feel strange when reading ancient poems, such as Su Shi's "I hope that people will live forever, thousands of miles away from the beauty of the moon", and Wang Changling's "There are close friends in the sea, and the ends of the world are like neighbors." I always feel that the stories about the lingering love between men and women are actually praising family or comradeship. ?Hehe, it can be seen that the ancients' like-mindedness was far deeper than the love between husband and wife. I'm going too far. When we read Wang Changling's farewell poem, it really penetrated to the bone.

There should be a story behind Liu Shenxu, a talented but indifferent person, who resigned early and chose to live in seclusion. Unfortunately, we can’t figure it out now. ?From the classics, he has been serving as a very small official, slightly better than Wang Lingran. ?If we analyze it from the logic of an aristocratic family, it is estimated that Liu Hermit does not have a good family background. Like Wang Wei, he is definitely not destined to be the number one scholar without taking an exam.

"The Biography of Talented Scholars of the Tang Dynasty" describes Liu Shenxu like this:

?Shenxu was from Songshan. Beautiful appearance. When he was nine years old, he was born in the literary zodiac. He submitted a letter, summoned him, and paid homage to the boy. In the eleventh year of Kaiyuan, Xu Zheng was ranked as a Jinshi, transferred to Luoyang Wei, and moved to Xia County Magistrate. He has an ancient nature, is snobbish and arrogant, and is arrogant. Later, he tried to hide in Lufu, but to no avail. Make friends with monks and Taoists in many mountains. Because of the quiet and far-reaching poetry, the elegant words and strange words, I suddenly gained something and amazed the audience. At that time, there were dozens of singers in the southeast. Their voices were melodious and unparalleled, but their spirit and bones could not catch up with all the masters. Yongming has returned, but he can stand out from the river. Be good at speaking to outsiders. Husband, why don't you live forever? The sky is broken and the national treasure is broken. It's a pity if you don't fulfill your ambition! The collection is handed down from generation to generation.

To put it simply, Liu Shenxu was a young genius and good at taking exams. He also served as the armed minister of the capital and the county magistrate. Logically speaking, his career should have been promoted all the way, and he ended up at the age of forty. He just resigned. How many twists and turns would it take to force a man who aspires to be an official to hide in the mountains?

Liu Shenxu's status in the history of literature is very high. Liu Yunzhang, the minister of the Ministry of Rites in the late Tang Dynasty, once praised Liu Shenxu in his tribute: "In the prosperous Tang Dynasty, Mr. Yuefu advocated it. He made outstanding achievements and was relegated to Jiangbiao." Immortals and immortals. At that time, the emperor knew each other. Later, he was regarded as his teacher. "Liu Shenxu was not only ranked with Liu Changqing, who was known as the "Poetry Immortal" and "Five Characters Great Wall". The "poetry hero" Liu Yuxi took him as his teacher. After middle age, Liu Shenxu was detached from snobbery, proud of the world, met monks, often set foot in the mountains and rivers, and wandered around the lower reaches of the Yangtze River. He once planned to live in Lushan Mountain for divination, but to no avail. At that time, his father Liu Hao was appointed as the governor of Hongzhou. He came to Hongzhou to visit relatives and visited Jing'an Taoyuan. He fell in love with the beautiful scenery here. He built a house and lived there, wrote poems for his own entertainment, and died here. After his death, he was buried in Yunshan Nao in Taoyuan, where his tomb remains today. The tomb still exists.

It is not too regrettable to leave a grave for people to mourn. Here, let me conclude by quoting a poem he wrote to Meng Haoran:

"Late Autumn Yangtze River Sends Meng Haoran"

The wooden leaves are falling one after another, and the southeast is covered with smoke and frost.

The forest and mountains are at dusk, and the sky and sea are blue.

As the darkness lasts longer, so does the sound of autumn.

A lonely boat with a faint moon, still crossing the countryside alone at night.

The cold flute is opposite Jingkou, and my old friend is in Xiangyang.

In the poem "Si Lao Jin Xi", Jiang and Han are facing each other from a distance.
