Through the storm, through the night, please guide me to the light; Dear Lord, take my hand and go to heaven.
This soft hymn was written by a black evangelist in 1932. His name is Thomas a dorsey. 1899 was born in Georgia, USA. His father is a priest and his mother is a piano teacher. When he successfully composed jazz music, he stayed away from God until he experienced God's discipline, during which dramatic changes took place and he was completely reborn!
1938 In August, he and his wife were in Chicago. She was about to give birth, but he and another believer were invited to sing at the Peiling Club in another city. He drove out early in the morning and his wife was still sleeping. After walking 20 miles, she found that when she got home, she had no music score and was still sleeping. As he wrote, I quietly picked up my briefcase and said goodbye silently. Unexpectedly, I received an urgent telegram the next day. My wife died in childbirth and my baby was dying! After the bad news came, he said, "My heart is broken and I can't drive home. My friend took me home. When I saw the baby and his wife in the same coffin, I couldn't bear the blow and blamed God. I said, God, you are nothing to me now. I feel that God is sorry for me, but one day, when I was playing the piano in pain, God healed me and I recorded this song in real time.
This poem was first sung by the Baptist Church Choir in Chicago on Sunday, accompanied by Thomas himself. He wrote 250 poems in his life, and "Dear Lord, hold my hand" is the most popular one.
In fact, when the chorus sang this poem in the golden autumn yesterday, I was deeply touched and my eyes were wet. I am probably very sad by the author's experience. The lyrics of the poem are so beautiful that they show our scenes in suffering one by one and pray for God's help. God's deep love warms our broken hearts.
After we believe in the Lord Jesus, it is not smooth sailing, nor does it mean that we will not suffer hardships, setbacks and pains; These are God's special training plans for me. God has a wonderful plan for us. He regards us as precious, attaches importance to our lives, makes us more in line with God's will, bears the grace of life, and finally stays with the Lord forever! However, when I encounter all kinds of trials and sufferings, we should turn to God, rely on him and pray for him to lead us out of the predicament and into the light.
We should always rely on faith, not on eyesight, on God in difficulties, and don't let difficulties devour our weak confidence.
For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand and say to you, Do not be afraid, I will help you.
