Houguan is the ancient name of Fuzhou. According to Lu, the former director of Fujian Literature and History Research Institute, Houguan County has a history of more than 2,000 years. At the earliest, Qin established Minzhong County and Yeqi County, also known as Dongye.
In the Han Dynasty, Duwei, the Eastern Houguan, was located in Yexian County. As a military organization and official rank, Hou Guan first appeared in history. It was not until the first year of Jian 'an (AD 196) that Hou Guan ruled today's Fuzhou in the name of county magistrate.
In different periods and regions, the content of "Houguan Culture" is slightly different.
